Every website needs navigation. Shazzoo supports the creation of navigation on highest level and sublevels as deep as you desire.
Creating the navigation for your site is easy. Navigate to the section Site navigation to create menu items. These menu items represent the navigation for your site.
Menu items are divided in main and sub menu items. You create main menu items for the first level of your site navigation and sub menu items for all deeper levels of navigation.
Menu items are published by default. You have to set the property Publication status explicitely to Draft if you want to have the menu item not published (yet).
To create a main menu item :
- Navigate in the section Site navigation to the sub section Menu items.
- Click on the view action New - Menu item.
- Fill in a title to display in your site navigation.
- Fill in a sort order number (0-999) to position the menu item in your site navigation.
- Click on the form action Save - Save and close.
- You see the new main menu item in the view.
To create a sub menu item :
- Navigate in the section Site navigation to the sub section Menu items.
- Select the main or sub menu item to which you want to relate your new sub menu item.
- Click on the view action New - Sub menu item.
- Fill in an title to display in your site navigation.
- Fill in a sort order number (0-999) to position the menu item in your site navigation.
- Click on the form action Save - Save and close.
- You see the new main menu item in the view.
To preview the site navigation click on the view action Preview. In a new browser window you will see the site navigation you just created.

The next section describes how to connect these menu items to pages and links.
You created your site navigation. Now you want to show your audience a web page or some other link, after they click on a menu item from your site navigation.
Connecting a web page or link to a menu item is easy :
- Open or create the web page or link you want to connect.
- For web pages only: Click on the toolbar action Properties/Editor to switch from the editor to the properties zone.
- Notice the property Related menu item and click on the button Select menu item.
- Select the menu item to which you want to connect this web page or link.
- Notice the property Menu item link and check the value Open this page/link when triggering the assigned menu item.
- Click on the toolbar action Save - Save and close.
There are three spots where you will notice impact of the connection you just made:
- Navigate to the section Site navigation and notice the view column names URL. It displays the URL the menu item refers to.
In case the view should be refreshed, click on the view action Refresh view to display all current data.
- Open the applicable menu item and notice the attribute URL. It shows the URL the menu items refers to.
- Preview your site and click on the applicable menu item of your the site navigation.
You created your site navigation. But now you want to re-order some menu items or move them to a different level. There are four different moves applicable for a menu item:
- Switch it with the previous menu item on the same level.
- Select the menu item you want to move.
- Click on the view action Move - Up.
- Switch it with the next menu item on the same level.
- Select the menu item you want to move.
- Click on the view action Move - Down.
- Move it to an alternative parent menu item.
- Select the menu item you want to move.
- Click on the view action Move - Other parent menu item.
- Select the new parent from the dialog and click Ok.
- Move it to the root level.
- Select the menu item you want to move.
- Click on the view action Move - Make it a root menu item.
All sub menu items related the the moved menu item are moved along with the parent menu item.
You can delete menu items as follow:
- Select the menu items you want to delete.
- Click the view action Delete
or
Press Delete on your keyboard.
- A warning appears. It tells you that all related sub menu items will be removed also, regardless whether you've selected them or not.
- Click Ok to confirm the deletion.
- The applicable menu items are deleted.
Shazzoo works with soft deletions. This means that deleted document are moved to the recycle bin. From there you can restore them or delete them permanently.
It's easy to change multiple properties for multiple menu items in one action. You don't have to open, change and save menu items one by one to do that.
- Select the menu items for which you want to set specific values for specific properties.
- Select the view action Change - Values.
- A dialog appears with all properties (divided in tabs) that can be modified in a batch.
- Perform your modifications and click Ok.
- The changes are directly visible in the view.

It's easy to change the publication status of multiple menu items in one action. You don't have to open, change and save menu items one by one to do that.
- Select the menu items for which you want to change the publication status.
- Select the view action Change - Publication status.
- A dialog appears with one property: Publication status.
- Select the applicable publication status and click Ok.
- The changes are directly visible in the view.
